The Chevy Silverado 1500 keeps loyal to its old-school origins. The newest interior and technological enhancements let this truck compete with the full-size competition. However, its lack of comfort and value limits it from becoming a top selection. When it was last remodeled in 2019, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 had a tough start. It has undergone various adjustments and updates since then to compensate for its initial inadequacies.

Performance of the Truck

We put a Silverado crew cab in High Country grade with both the 5.3-liter V8 plus four-wheel drive through its paces. For regular driving or towing, acceleration, and braking remain adequate. From a stop on our test track, our test vehicle reached 60 mph in around 7 seconds. A comparable F-150 is somewhat faster, but the Silverado’s power is adequate. The transmission changes smoothly in town and makes the most of the engine’s low-end torque. Furthermore, the truck maintains a straight line on the freeway. But the steering effort is too light.

Comfort

The seats in the Silverado aren’t as cushy as those in the F-150 or Ram 1500, but there’s enough cushioning and strength to keep you comfortable on extended rides. On the highway, the ride is quite smooth, and the vehicle absorbs most minor impacts well. However, it can get restless while driving on roads with a frequency of shocks and dips. The temperature system readily heats and relaxes the cabin, albeit activating it might be difficult due to the small size of many of the control buttons.
